Planting Seeds of Connection: The Incredible Years Program in Arabic
Back in January 2022, an idea rooted in love, service, and community blossomed into a movement. We saw a gap—a need for Arabic-speaking parents in Colorado to access parenting support that resonated with their language, values, and lived experience. That seed grew into action, and today, we are proud to be running our ninth round of the Incredible Years parenting program delivered entirely in Arabic.
The Incredible Years is a research-based program shown to improve parenting skills, strengthen parent-child relationships, and reduce challenging behaviors in children. But until recently, it hadn’t reached the Arabic-speaking immigrant and refugee communities in our state—or anywhere in the U.S. We were determined to change that.
As a nonprofit dedicated to empowering immigrant Muslim women and families, we knew that delivering this program in Arabic would require more than just translation. It needed cultural adaptation, community trust, and a deep understanding of the challenges our families face—whether it's navigating trauma, resettlement, or raising children in a new country while preserving their faith and identity.
With unwavering commitment, we built a coalition of partners, secured funding, trained Arabic-speaking facilitators, and created welcoming, judgment-free spaces where parents could learn, grow, and heal together. The feedback has been powerful: parents report stronger bonds with their children, improved communication, and renewed confidence in their parenting journey.
This program has become more than a course—it’s a community of support and a beacon of hope. And it reminds us that when we meet people where they are—in language, in culture, in compassion—we create real change.
